Common Sense for Everyone August 20, 2009 Bryan D. Schmidt (Geneva, Illinos USA) 45 out of 67 found this review helpful
Hard to argue with Glenn's logic. Very easy to read and understand. A few of Glenn's observations:
Tax code has expanded from 13 pages to over 64,000 pages.
Congress continues to pass laws that apply to others but not Congress.
Washington thinks they know what's best for you instead of letting you decide what is best for you.
Congress bounced over 3,000 checks but no criminal prosecutions of members of Congress.
Congress continues to say one thing and do another.
For obvious reasons, this book deserves your attention and I'll be passing along my copy to family soon.
FYI - I read my copy 2x!

Educational and Shocking!! July 11, 2009 Jessica Lynn (Topeka, KS USA) 11 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is the best book that I've read in a long time! Very historically educational and shocking to learn just how out of control our government has truly become. If we do not get back to our morals and ethics I fear what will become of our country. This book gives insight into what needs to be fixed to get America headed back in the right direction.
This should be required reading for every American!!
Fighting an Out of Control Government July 12, 2009 Bonnie M. Parsley (CA USA) 11 out of 17 found this review helpful
Things are not as bad in Washington as we thought--they are much worse! Politicians have used the system they've created to afford themselves special privileges. Behaviors that would land most of us in jail are excused in the political class. They no longer view themselves as servants of the people but as rulers, unaccountable and unrestrained by law.
Courage, character, integrity and sacrifice that marked the Founders of our nation are not to be seen in the majority of today's politicians. They will say anything and do anything to get elected. Once they get to Washington their first priority is to reward their supporters and insure their reelection. They vote themselves generous salaries and huge benefits--all paid for by the taxpayer.
Beck exposes our government with its out of control budgets, its corruption, and its hypocrisy. He encourages the citizens of this country to stand together and work to defeat the corrupt candidates. He warns that if we do not get involved, we will lose our freedoms for good. We must demand a return to our founding principles. We must insist that government adhere to the constitution. Citizens must get involved and inform themselves of the slide into Fascism that we are on. We can no longer spend our evenings watching mindless entertainment, laughing at cruel jokes, ignoring our duty as citizens. An ignorant electorate will surely lead to a totalitarian government and the death of freedom.
Please read Common Sense and then get involved to bring back a government that is accountable to the people. We must fight for freedom every bit as much as those who came before us and sacrificed to pass its gifts on to us. We cannot betray the promise of America and leave our children a country that is bereft of opportunity, vulnerable to conquest, and demoralized by corruption and greedy politicians. We must take back our government and rededicate ourselves to the original intent found in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

Excellent, fast read. Also includes Thomas Paine's "Common Sense". Gives you pause for thought.
