***************** Why Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga & Who is Jennifer Wolfe? *****************
Whether you're a yoga veteran in search of an active yoga routine, or you're new to yoga, Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga gives you all the tools to make your pregnancy journey the best it can be. Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga is your support system leading to a more comfortable pregnancy, quicker and less painful labor, and a speedier postpartum recovery.
Jennifer Wolfe developed Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga during her own pregnancy when she realized that all styles of prenatal yoga offered, at the time, could not adequately prepare her physically and mentally for labor. She wanted a yoga practice that specifically served the needs of the pregnant woman: one that actively prepares women for the marathon event of childbirth, while helping women discover their power and inner strength needed during this transformative period in their lives.
Jennifer Wolfe found these empowering and strengthening qualities in the soft flow of Vinyasa Yoga. In her DVDs, she adapts Vinyasa Yoga for the unique needs of pregnant women, providing a system that works with your body without sacrificing the intensity necessary to prepare for childbirth. By learning to link your breath and movements in a constant flow, you'll increase your ability to work with your body during labor and childbirth, reducing the need for medications or other interventions; including a decrease in the need for C-sections.

Very good exercise for EXPERIENCED yogis August 12, 2010 Anita I purchased this DVD and Shiva Rhea's DVD and have been using these two alternatively. This is a very challenging routine that will definitely keep you in shape. However, practise with caution because newer yogis may actually injure themselves doing it, especially during your 3rd trimester. I just practised it today, and after 3 days of not doing yoga, I found it difficult to keep up. Remember, relaxation should be the most important aspect of your yoga practise during pregnancy. I would recommend both this video and Shiva Rhea (much more relaxing and explains more about the benefits of each poses) but only for more experienced yogis. If not, I would highly recommend Shiva's DVD.
great yoga dvd for pregnant women August 8, 2010 Jessie It's great yoga exercise vedio for pregnant women, it's easy to follow, and it explain the function of most posts. I got it in my 1st trimester. At the beginning, i am not as flexible as before i am pregnant, so i started to do it 15 min first time, then 30 min second time, around third or fourth time, i can follow the 1 hour exercise and I can do most of posts. Now I do it once a week, and i normally choose to do it after my nap, so i have enough energy. And after the exercise I feel great. It builds up the strength on my legs and arms, and heals my back pain. I like it a lot.
Super Prenatal Vinyasa Yoga August 3, 2010 Nix As a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher, i think this is a fantastic Prenatal DVD. I was getting bored attending Prenatal Yoga classes, as they were very simple and mainly for beginners (as a lot of women only decide to start practicing yoga when they fall pregnant). If you have had some experience in yoga, this DVD is super! For those who are beginners, there is also the 15 minute short form which you can start off with and slowly build your practice. The modifications and explanations for each trimester are very clear and helpful. So, whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, i would recommend this DVD to you!
great for 3rd trimester July 28, 2010 mz This yoga tape is great for 3rd trimester. I was doing the bryan kest power yoga dvd up until this point and it got to be too much and uncomfortable. This is still challenging yet easy enough to do with a big stomach.
Gentle but Effective Prenatal Yoga Workout!!! July 23, 2010 A. Chung (Irvine, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I researched high and low before choosing a yoga DVD. Based on the reviews here, I decided to take a leap of faith and I'm glad I ended up with this one! I was worried that "prenatal" yoga would mean a slow, boring workout focused mostly on stretching with little strengthening, but this was definitely not the case here! There are 2 CDs in this DVD, with 15 min, 30 min, 45 min, and 75 min workouts - choose the right one based on your time constraints. My first workout with this DVD was actually the 15 minute one and I was so surprised at how effective of a workout it was in such a short amount of time! You're constantly flowing through the poses in a gentle way that still engages all your core muscle groups. I felt so great and relaxed afterwards. Then I tried the 75 minute workout on another day and loved that one as well.
I really like Jennifer Wolfe's teaching style. She is clear and concise without being overbearing or annoying. Her voice is soothing and the background music really suits this DVD. The DVD's have 3 women doing the workouts with you - Jennifer, a lady in her 2nd trimester, and a lady in her 3rd trimester. It's great to visually see the different modifications you can do based on how far along you are in your pregnancy.
I highly recommend this DVD, BUT I recommend it to people who have had prior yoga experience. You don't need to be an expert, she doesn't make you balance on two hands or anything like that... but it's best if you have a good grasp of the basics like downward dog and the various sun salutations. The DVD clearly states that this is specifically a VINYASA yoga dvd. For those who don't know, Vinyasa is a type of yoga that allows you to flow from movement to movement in a sequence, so there is little stopping or pausing in between poses. It's also what makes this such a great cardio as well as strengthening and lengthening workout!
