Stunning Photography October 13, 2000 Stephanie Manley (Houston, TX) 38 out of 38 found this review helpful
This is a wonderful IMAX presentation. The photography is stunning. You will travel the world as various scientists study their dolphins. Some of the stories are charming, as one researcher has paired up with one dolphin in paticular. His story is very charming, and he and his dolphin meet on a daily basis, and have done so for over seven years. Other people study their life styles, habbits, and their language. This film is perfect for people of all ages.
Melodic, entertaining, and fun. April 21, 2004 Paul H. (Michigan) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I am a huge fan of IMAX films in general and this is one of the best. The soundtrack (Sting) is awesome and Mr. Brosnan does a great job narrating. It is inspiring to see these intelligent creatures as they interact with humans and you quickly become unsure of who is the scientist and who is the subject. Their intelligence combined with the perpetual smile make the dolphins seem more like distant cousins than a different species. My 6 and 2 year old love this movie as well and the outreach value of science is made self evident. We may truly communicate with other creatures in the universe and won't it be amazing if we find them on our own planet?
A Masterpiece January 16, 2004 Lisa A. Conklin (Shrub Oak, New York United States) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Dolphins Is a wonderful film with a wonderful musical score provided by Sting and Steve Wood. We purchased the DVD, and the soundtrack CD - and it is regularly in our CD player. Our kids love it !!! The cinematography is awesome. This film will put you in a good mood on a cold, winter day with it's visuals and island flavored music. You'll also learn so much about these most incredible creatures. I would love to see a sequel to this great documentary. I think it was actually nominated for an Academy Award. Do yourself a favor, buy the DVD and the soundtrack CD !!!
What a great DVD! September 26, 2005 Joy Casey (Solana Beach, CA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I loved this DVD on wild dolphins! Everything about it was wonderful: the music, the cinematography...and of course, the dolphins themselves. I plan to show this to my two "precious" little grandsons next week!
This Movie Changed My Life January 3, 2007 A. Brown (Hartford, CT) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Yes, I am being a bit dramatic but honestly, this movie changed my life! I remember first seeing it in the Imax theater and being completely blown away by it. I have always been fond of dolphins but this movie made me fall absolutely in love with them and I have been donating to The Dolphin Communication Project (one of the movie's main focus) ever since!
The movie contains extensive knowledge about dolphins and offers insights into the world of dolphins that many books or documentaries have yet to touch upon. As mentioned earlier, the Dolphin Communication Project is a project that explores how dolphins communicate - they analyze the types of sounds that dolphins make, but also insightfully analyze their physical communication, kind of like a dolphin sign language.
I saw this movie with the camp I was a counselor for and every kid in the theater was mesmerized by this movie. The information is insightful enough for adults, but also given in a way that let's kids understand it as well. VERY KID FRIENDLY!!!
The last thing that drew me into this movie was the soundtrack that is done by Sting. I am a huge fan of Sting and I loved all his pieces that played throughout the movie. It is soulful and soothing and it is a perfect accessory to this movie.
I guarantee that you will walk away from this movie with a new found love for dolphins. Ever since watching it, I have been dreaming of swimming with dolphins and some day I hope that dream can come true!
