Great workout for experienced expecting moms July 18, 2009 N. Brown 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Jennifer Wolfe is amazing. I love this dvd. I have taken so many prenatal classes and am always bored and feel like they are way too easy for me. I really worked up a sweat doing the 75 min practice and felt great after. I plan to do this workout throughout my pregnancy and know that it will help me stay in shape. Jennifer gives modifications depending on your trimester and walks you through the poses, but it helps to be familiar with the poses. It is definitely not for beginners, but for those of you who have been practicing for a while.
Effective and flexible prenatal yoga September 11, 2009 Nicole Bryan (Dallas, Texas) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am now 19 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have been using these DVD's for a month. Prior to becoming pregnant I did regular yoga workouts on DVD's but have never been to a class. Some of the reviews made this series sound very advanced but I feel I picked up the moves very easily with my previous DVD background. The best thing about the series is the flexibility, there are programs of various lengths. Sometimes I do a long yoga workout or I combine a shorter yoga with 30 minutes of walking or elliptical. It helps keep the workout from becoming routine and allows me to fit something in on days when I either don't have much time or don't have much energy. Even if I really don't want to I can usually talk myself into the 15 or 30 min and then am so glad I did. So far none of the moves have been strenuous or uncomfortable and a lot of modifications are offered for trimesters or level of flexibility or experience. The instruction is straight forward without a lot of extraneous talk and I find her voice soothing and easy to follow. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and look forward to seeing how I do as I get bigger and bigger. I would recommend this series to anyone interested in prenatal yoga.
Great for regular practitioners April 22, 2009 Ashley Young 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It seems that so many prenatal yoga DVDs are at the very, very beginner level. I was looking for something that would challenge me and help me keep my practice close to the pre-pregnancy level I'd worked so hard to reach. Jennifer Wolfe's 2 DVD set is fantastic. It's challenging but reasonable for the pregnant body. There are modifications for every level and she encourages you to find your own limit (your "edge"). And I love that I can choose the length of my practice for those (many) days when I can't commit to the longer program.
I just finished the 75 minute practice and I feel so much better than I have in days. I feel strong and flexible and it has relieved my back pain. I haven't tried the partner poses yet, but I'm looking forward to roping my partner into them!
great prenatal yoga that actually makes you sweat April 21, 2009 L. Chaiken (Montréal, Quebec Canada) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love these dvds. I practice with them everyday, working up my strenght to be able to finish the 75 minute routine, and I'm happy to say I've got new muscle tone to prove it. I've tried a few other prenatal yoga dvds and podcasts, and was always kind of bored with all the time spent on «connecting with the love for the baby» and all the mommy jokes, instead of getting into the routines. I was looking for real yoga, adapted to my big belly. These are probably not for beginners, as Jennifer Wolfe does not spend a lot of time explaining positions (its assumed you know how to do Downward Facing Dog). But you don't have to be a pro either. I sure wasn't. But I'm getting pretty good, and I'll be in great shape for labor.
Great Prenatal Yoga for Already Practing Women! October 4, 2009 A. Boxer (Los Angeles, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the 2 DVD set because I was unsure if the original or short forms would be best for me. I really like both DVDs. They are perfect for women who have done some yoga before and are familiar with the basic poses. I would NOT recommend this for someone who is attempting prenatal yoga for the first time. The instructor gives some basic posture instructions but for the most part assumes you are already familiar with the poses. She does not explain in detail how to position your body. Also, the pace of the DVD is pretty quick, even challenging for me to keep up with at times. Before purchasing these DVDs I was attending prenatal yoga classes near my home 2 times per week. The addition of these DVDs let me increase my practice A LOT without having to take the hit of the expensive classes. I have definitely got my money out of them since I do the routines about 3 times per week. I really use the short forms DVD a lot more. It's hard to find time to do a 75 minute routine. I typically end up doing the 45 or 30 minute routine. If I had to buy them again, I probably would just buy the short forms... it's a great workout and long enough for me to feel the burn and get my heart rate up.
